These prizes, each endowed with 10,000 euros, offer the opportunity for an intern to complete a full-time year of training in the workshop of a master craftsperson. Intended for both graduate and non-graduate students, as well as adults seeking a career change, these prizes allow for significant professional experience with concrete projects, skill enhancement, and daily observation of business operations.
A total of 23 prizes will be awarded by the City of Paris and sponsors, including the Rémy Cointreau Foundation, the Michelle and Antoine Riboud Foundation, the 19 M, the French Leather Goods Federation, and the Alliance For European Flax Linen & Hemp through the Ateliers de Paris endowment fund.
Each candidate must first collaborate with a recognized master craftsperson with experience, whose workshop is located in Paris or the immediate suburbs. This collaboration provides a better understanding of the specific trade they are pursuing and the realities of running a business. In the case of rare crafts, the host company may be located outside the Île-de-France region.
The 12-month internships begin in either January or April, depending on the choice of the laureate.
