VOGUE'S VIEW:ON EDUCATION. From the Archives to the Classroom
ESMOD International's Research Lab is co-organizing a symposium around Diachronic and transnational Perspectives on Vogue magazine, on December 13 and 14, 2024.
This study day focuses on the history of Vogue in relation to education. Here's a cross-cutting topic for interdisciplinary and international discussion.
If the famous fashion magazine “Vogue” occupies a unique place in history (of fashion and publishing), it also occupies a special place in historiography. Indeed, it has been analyzed from a myriad of disciplinary viewpoints, including cultural history, sociology, economic and corporate history, marketing studies, art history, literary studies, linguistics and more.
The interweaving of fashion heritage and education will be particularly relevant, as will methodological reflections on how to (re)construct the history of the production of cultural images and texts on glossy paper.
