You may be wondering who is behind Chris Marques' iconic jackets in Danse avec les Stars. We had the exclusive opportunity to meet those who meticulously crafted these couture designs. Here is the unique collaboration between fashion students, a men's tailoring house, and Chris Marques.
A legendary dancer and longtime judge on TF1’s Danse avec les Stars, Chris Marques is known for his attention to detail, technical rigor, and extravagant, dazzling blazers. Every Friday night, the show delivers both artistic and stylistic performances, from the contestants on the dance floor to the jury’s bench.
For the 14th season, Chris Marques is joined by Jean-Marc Généreux, Fauve Hautot, and Mel Charlot to evaluate the contestants’ progress. Once again, the Franco-Portuguese dancer and director has placed a special emphasis on his signature jackets. But this year, for the first time, he entrusted the students of ESMOD, in collaboration with his go-to tailor, Maison Jonas, to create the ten jackets he will wear during the live shows.
We spoke with Peter Renouf, the student who designed the jacket Chris Marques wears this Friday night on the DALS stage (revealed at the end of this article), as well as Laurent Touboul, head of Maison Jonas. Together, they shared the details of this bold artistic collaboration, initiated by Aurore Donguy, the dancer’s longtime stylist.
A Creative Process Hand-in-Hand with Chris Marques & Maison Jonas
Friday night, 9:10 PM. The Danse avec les Stars live show is about to begin, and the ESMOD students anxiously await the moment their creation appears on Chris Marques' shoulders.
When sketches become reality, it’s the ultimate challenge for these third-year Fashion Design students: crafting one of the iconic jackets worn by the Latin dance virtuoso for DALS season 14.
